Some flooring systems claim to be polished concrete and are not, True Polished Concrete (TPC), has no clear coatings applied to the surface. The term Polish means (transitive and intransitive verb to make something smooth and shiny, or become smooth and shiny, by rubbing with something). This is not achieved by applying a clear glossy coating to the floor to ensure the required shine or gloss is achieved. The application of a coating, means your floor will now require reapplication every 2 – 4 years depending on wear and tear.
True Polished Concrete (TPC) is a process of cutting and polishing the concrete surface using various diamond tooling, just as you would polish a piece of stone or marble to reach the desired finish.
